Drayton Family Reunion

Greetings Family!

As you know, descendants of Simon Drayton have been celebrating family every other year since 1975!  After 6 year break in our tradition of Bi-annual Family Reunions, the tradition was revived in 2006.

We trace our family back to the Charleston Area.  Those of you who were in attendance at the 1993 family reunion, can remember our informative guided tour of Drayton Hall.   We are looking forward to returning to Charleston, SC this year, 2007.

Before the Civil War, Seaborn (C. Boyd) Drayton (brother of Simon Drayton) received pastoral training.  He subsequently donated the land on which sits Thankful Baptist Church in Hampton County, Estill, SC.  Stephen Drayton I, the son of Simon Drayton, served as an Associate Pastor of Thankful Baptist Church (born c. 1854 died 1924).  Stephen Drayton I and many other family members are buried on the grounds of Thankful Baptist Church.

Drayton Reunion 2006! Reunion Benediction Prayer

Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who places solitary persons in families:

We commend to your continual care the homes in which your people dwell.

Put far from them, we beseech you, every root of bitterness, the desire of vainglory, and the pride of life.

Fill them with faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, and godliness.

Knit together in constant affection those who, in marriage, have been made one flesh.

Turn the hearts of the parents to the children, and the hearts of the children to the parents; and so enkindle fervent charity among us all, that we may evermore be kindly one to another.

Amen.
